I have a 240 gallon cube tank, center overflow box which makes flow difficult. I have returns hooked to a ecotech M1 return pump. I have 2 x X150F Gyre and 1 x ecotech MP40 and can get the flow pattern correct, its mostly slow across the front.

can someone share how they would place the pump in the tank? thanks, Dean

Have you tried turning the gyres vertical and making a semi (or true) gyre? I would assume with the controllers you could actually spin the whole thing back and forth (clock - counter clock) and shoot the mp over the top for turbulence.

I like that idea BUT not sure how to do that with the Gyres.

is there a controller?
A simple way would be one gyre on for ?five minutes? then the other.
In my 55 standard (rectangle) w corner overflow, i have a pump across the back that pushes the water in a gyre(some may call it raceway), the return and another powerhead hit that main flow along the way and create turb.
It still acts as a gyre sending the flow all the way around to the overflow.

In your tank when you spin the gyre, youll have to hit the colom hard with the MP from over the top.
heres a pic of one method. different equipment.

I switched them around and am using the alternating gyre setting on 5 minute intervals. No dead spots now. Awesome !

how cool! You might need some softies or gorgs to wave in the current now!

That's totally cool. Honestly most everything I know about mass water movement and flow I learned from the research of scientist who helped design and inspired the maxpects years before the product came out. I was studying his work to keep sea fans and obviously SPS as the top is so turbulent with beautifully graded areas of lower flow for other coral. You tank and scape set up is one id been visualizing for years. Excellent tank sir.
