Can't get rid of this algae

Been having hair algae problems for about a month now can't seems to get rid of it I use to do water changes ever other week jumped up to every week and nothing is going away I manually remove it clean the tank and it's back the next day it's spreading all throughout my sandbed and starting to go onto my rocks my API nitrate test reads zero haven't done phosphate yet but will do tonight everything else is in check don't know what else to do it's getting frustrating anyone have any tips

I have not yet I was going to try all the non medication methods first before dosing anything

I used magnesium + from Colombo raised my mag slowly too 1700ppm .. gha died off.. then let it drop again .. that worked for me ..

Try some emerald crabs , they usually get it done but if they eat it all take them out and put them in the sump or return them because they will look for other pretty things to eat lol

I have a sea hare works brilliant he loves the stuff and he now has seaweed and tends to pay visits to a friends tank if needed

Yea try a natural approach first , but remember once it is gone take them out ,from a personal experience they ate my neon green frogspawn and tried to eat my anenome when it split and was trying to heal , they are ruthless I couldn't catch him because he always hid when my hand went into the tank, my wrasse got to him when he molted and became a snack I was glad lol.

Best thing i ever did a really good option and they are greedy so should have the problem sorted in a day or two he's a firm favorite in our house everyone looks for shrek as we call him for obvious reasons lol

I've been dosing hydrogen peroxide for about a week now and so far it is doing amazing job. I dose 1mL/10 gallons once per day of the 3% kind you get from the pharmacy or grocery store.

I would say the algae in the tank has been reduced by 80%.

What are your phosphates and nitrates? From what I can make out, looks like you have red cayno bacteria.
After trying all of the above I used a red slime remover. What the removers do is focus and starve out the bacteria. The bacteria is usually introduced into the system and one of two treatment will rid the system. [emoji6]

Throw that API test kit in the garbage, I do use mine for ammonia/nitrite but for nitrate mine sucks, get a salorft, much better, ur phosphate could be high if so try some of that phosphate rx first, never had luck with any of that ciano clean stuff, it will kill ur good bacteria also, when ur nitrates go down, below 10, and ur phosphates around .04 that gha will die off, maybe ur rock is leaching phosphate?? Sometimes that lasts for months, keep ur levels low and wait it out!!!

Vibrant worked very well for me. It got rid of green hair and bubble algae. Recently I had red slime and used chemiclean and it was completely gone in 3 days.
