Can't get the full siphon started on my shadow overflow, please help...

Personally... I don't use Check valves and go with a modified version of the hole in the loc-line approach. I honestly don't know how much they are limiting your flow (probably negligible compared to the drop in pipe size). I would think that the closer a check valve is to the pump the better as it will hold back more water than if it were up by the tank. It would also make maintenance easier to do in the basement vs behind the tank itself.

Any time! I do suggest you atleast consider going with the 1" reducing T and plumbing 2 outlets on the far side of your tank, it might get that MP off of that wall and more out of sight. Btw, Beautiful tank and stand, can't wait to see it all come together once it's cycled! :)

Thanks! The stand was actully built by another member of R2R. @TTTony

I'll have to think on it. It will be tricky since I am coming through the floor within the wall so I am limited on space for new holes haha
I like the idea of hiding that powerhead for sure!

You could do 1 1/2" up to the underside of the wall, split it with a Y (Not a T) to two 1" Flex PVC pipes to go up through the floor in the wall to the tank. Then on each return have a 1" to 1/2" reducing T at the bulkhead. Then use a reducer on the top end to reduce to 1/2" or 3/4", run that across the top of the tank under the canopy and drop those down in each corner. If you were wondering the best way to do it :)

As far as she is concerned, that pump was $20, I'd like to keep it that way. I've grown rather fond of being alive lol
