Cant grow chaeto no matter whAt!???

hello yall,

I cant grow chaeto to save my life anymore !??


My system is 80ish gallon, (40Dt, 25S, 20FT)

All the parameters are good except phosphate,
Its at .1 -.2

Cal- 440 (had high cal, working on this to bring it to 400)
Mag- 1275
Alk- 8
Nitrates 5-7ppm
Phosphorus utlr 147

I cant grow chaeto no matter what i do,

Had fluval light, upgraded the light to kessil H80,

Still no luck,

Any help?

What are your actual parameters? I'm curious to find out what the problem is too. For me, chaeto grows, but very slowly compared to other people's systems.

You need to adjust your lighting schedule. Do you have any algae? If so, it's happier in your main display because its getting more nutrients

You should check your iron & iodine levels as well. Both of these are critical for good chaeto growth. With your H80 and nutrient levels, you should be getting good growth

Also, if you use anything like vibrant it will kill off chaeto

If my chaeto starts looking weak. A cap full of iron and manganese macroalgae supplement usually does thw trick. I use a cheap red led grow bulb and my chaeto grows extremely dense.
