I cannot grow chaeto in my refugium.
I use a Tunze led for fuge
my problem is the chaeto gets stuck in the powerhead. It also went over the baffles so I had to put a foam filter. definitely cannot get it to tumble. Any help appreciated. Rich

Since you have the light, maybe install a frag rack down there instead of macro? Maybe setup up an ATS in the space since it's not set up so well for macro?

Lack of growth can also be due to lack of available nutrients. Chaeto prefers high nutrient levels.

I really want to get copepods for my tank.

I have a second hand trigger ruby 36. I got it second hand including my tank and the previous owner had a fuge. I only got the tank sump and stand so not sure how he used it.

I don't think you need it to tumble. Mine is jammed in a HOB modified protein skimmer to make a cheato reactor w/ a LED strip wrapped around it. All the water does is flow up through it. It really just needs a flow to help expel gas during photosynthesis. I also have a ball of it in 5g tank for Tigger pods in a separate tank that has a trickle from the airline that has a T5 Blue+ & Coral+
I read if you do not shut your lights off the cheato becomes a sexual and then it seems to melt.
If you are looking to get a colony of pods going. Checkout the videography forum. I have been posting about how to do pods.

Thanks I do like the benefits of growing macro algae. I am not ready to use a chaeto reactor when I spent so much money on my fuge. Would you recommend just not using my power head.

I just jammed mine in high flow and high light. Mine started starving out when I bought massive protein skimmers. Overstocking fish will do the trick, for me! :)
