I've had my 40 gallon tank up and running for about six months. I started the tank by getting everything from my lfs' tanks (live rock, sand, even the water) so it would cycle faster. I have a clean up crew, several corals, a bta, 2 clownfish, flasher wrasse, and a green mandarin. All of the livestock are healthy and doing great but I can't keep an angelfish alive. I tried a flame, it died in a week. I then bought a potters and it just died today. It lasted about 3 weeks. Both Angels had ich on them when they died. Water perimeters are perfect and temp is at 78. No other fish has ich or ever had it. How did the Angels get ich and the other fish not get it? They were eating and doing fine one day, then the next they get ich and die.

Ich is a parasite and just because there weren't visible cysts on your other fish doesn't mean they are not infected. Various factors can contribute to the effectiveness of a fish's immune system. A new fish will likely be more stressed in an aquarium than an established fish, so this could be one reason why the angels succumbed.

I ordered ruby red kick ich and rally combo because it's supposed to be reef safe. Do you guys think that will get rid of the ich? I don't have room to set up a qt tank so I need options only for the display tank

Any truly effective medicine for ich is not reef safe.

There does seem to be ich in your tank. With all those inverts though it would be best to utilize a QT to treat the fish and leave the tank Fallow for 76 days. This will rid you of ich in the DT and using CP, Copper or TTM will rid you of ich in your fish. After that, you can try a new angel with more confidence in it surviving. I will say, that after all that trouble, I would definitely start quarantining all new fish from this point on. It will save you a lot of time, trouble, money and lives.

As already mentioned, there arn't any reef safe methods that will rid your tank of ich. If you didn't have inverts then you could do Hypo in the tank, but that's not an option for your DT. Also, the reason your other fish dont exhibit symptoms of ich is because the older, more established ones have a stronger immune system and are able to hold the parasite off some. Ich still lives in their gills out of sight. New fish will be stressed and show symptoms of it much easier

There is one more thing you can try but it will take time because ick will only be zapped when its in the water column and that would be a uv steralizer. I'd say you got ick from your lfs as most do I like buying livestock from repeatable online because if you look into them most use clear holding tanks and run chemicals.

That's pretty good advice.
