cant receive emails from profilux 4

I have gone through the setting up of email notifications but when I press send test email I don't receive anything, what am I doing wrong?
there is nothing in junk folder, I think it might be the mail server (ip or domain) thing as im not sure what to put in that bit but I use a Hotmail.com address if that helps

Just got 5 emails on the bounce so everything must be ok, just needed a little patience

I would get a gmail account. Just for notifications from the ProfiLux. That you keep them separate from any other mail you get.

Sounds like you got it working, but if they stop what could also happen is your email provider may flag them as suspicious.

I setup a separate Outlook account just for text notification from the Profilux. Outlook flagged the messages as suspicious a couple of times and I had to go into the Outlook account to say that they were not. Haven't had a problem in a long while.

I setup a daily text notification for tank parameters. If I don't get the text it tells me there is an issue with the email account, Profilux connectivity to the internet or GHL servers. Otherwise you'll never know there is an issue with any of those.

I'm right there with you. The GHL stuff has a learning curve for sure. It took me several tries to get my System to text me alerts. That was so fun...

I have tank parameters sent to me every 4 hours and immediate sms messages if there is an alert.

Basically, the Profilux emails your cell phone provider at a special Email address. Then your providers system texts you.

Most all carriers have this capability.

For instance to have Verizon send a text you have the profilux send an email to your phone number [email protected]

Unless I misunderstand, I don't think the Profilux sends out the text directly.

It gets sent through your email provider. The GHL servers log into your email account to do that. Hence the need to enter your email address, password, server and port in the settings.

This is the reason I setup an entirely new account just for the Profilux. Security of my existing email accounts.

This is also why I have that daily text. If my email account blocks the GHL servers, because they deem them suspicious, I'd never know. And that's what happened. I was testing some controller settings but never got the text alarms. Outlook blocked the GHL servers as suspicious. Once I acknowledge they were not suspicious it's worked fine.

That daily text also tells me the Profilux is actually connected to the internet and GHL servers. Again, no way of knowing the connection has been lost. Unless you happen to look at the P4 and see the logo white or log into the app or myGHL and it doesn't connect to your controller.

The one thing I think GHL equipment is really missing is a heartbeat with it's servers. If they loose contact with the servers, GHL should send you an email and/or text to let you know contact has been lost.

Use this as the email address you are sending to, and it will come via text.

Sending email to your phone: Use the address format [10-digit phone number]@vmobl.com

Example: [email protected]

Im completely lost with all this so I will stick to just emails, I am not tech savvy so I need things explaining to me in a way a child understands but thanks for all the replies guys.

Setup a new email notification, for the recipient use your phone number following the example from @Josh Kraft.

Your email information is already setup nothing needs to be done there, this is just adding a new notification.

you change the recipient, not the mail server info.
