I suck at checking the refractometer. Can anyone tell me what my salinity is at? Calibrated it with distilled water before testing it with saltwater.

That’s 1.027, as long as your refractometer is one specifically designed for saltwater, where calibration with RODI should be ok.

Thank you, lol. I have bad eyes, so it is hard to read the numbers. Yeah, It is only for saltwater.

Typically salinity refractometers will not give accurate results when calibrated off of rodi or distilled water. Do you have any refractometer calibration solution?

I have used this recipe before it works great. Makes a lifetime supply too haha.

In doubt i use Tropic Marin hydrometer at 25c in my 5 gallons wc, in sump or in tank... and calibrate my refracto whit it.

I will buy some. I have no idea where my bottle I had went off too. I can use tap water in the meantime.

No not this one

Edit: if you have 2 or 3 equipment that tell you the same reading.
I guess those are telling you the good mesure.

Suggestion: Tropic maric hydrometer (about 16inch high) but never have to be calibrated.
