Cant tune syphon correctly help!

Hey everyone,
Need some help with getting my full syphon tuned to get the system quite.
The tank was already drilled when I bought it.

Not sure what I'm doing wrong

Will attach pictures and will greatly appreciate any advice!

Do you only have a single drain? If so this is your problem. You can not split a single drain into 2 you need 2 holes with 2 drains in order to run a full siphon drain.

Yeah. I don't see a siphon drain. I see a single standpipe in the display.

To make that quiet, you just have to have very low flow from your return pump.

I agree, the pvc also seems to be pretty small for it being the only drain piping tbh

Are you pulling water directly from the main body of water in the tank?

And it's almost difficult to tune with 2 ball valves.

You'd want to replace those with a singe gate valve so that you have more control over adjustments.

I would not have any valves, ball or gate, on a single drain. Nothing good can come from that.

Single drain, no valve.
Dual drain, GATE VALVE. No way to get a good syphone with a ball valve and you certainly don't want to split them.

personally, I would drain the tank...
silicone in a corner overflow...
and add a standpipe

Agree thats no good. Gate valve is a must. 2 pipes is a must.

Thanks everyone for the reply, the main drain in the tank is 1 1/2" that funnels down to 1".

The only reason for the split was I was worried about the same reasons yall are worried about, it spilling over. And thought have a split off would be a backup incase the main one got plugged.

So I think the best thing to be would silicone in a corner overflow add another sandpipe for emergency flow and get a single 1" down pipe that's not split with a gate valve to really tune it in.

How does that sounds?

Splitting 1 line into 2 doesn't gain you any redundancy or safety.

That might be an option, although it's more work than I would do. You may not be able to drill another hole in the bottom panel. Most bottom panels tend to be tempered. It might be okay. You'll have to check.

Another option is plugging the bottom, then adding an overflow to a side or back by drilling there.

Or you can just have the one standpipe drain. Just valve down the return pump until the overflow is quiet.

What is the goal for the tank?

If no fish or snails and if a little sound wont be an issue you could do a durso style with the single hole. At 1.5" should accommodate roughly 600 gph. Put a strainer on it and larger fish would be ok also. I think adding an overflow box and second pipe would be better but also more work and $.
