Captive Bred Mandarins

I got mine from Live Aquaria a few months ago. They are tiny. Not even a inch long but beautiful fish.

Gah I just love these little guys. This one ventured away from his corner for first time

When I had mine it learned to eat Frozen Mysis and Frozen LRS Reef Frenzy. It still wasn't enough though and it died. I miss it as it was a cool fish:

I’m not planning on purchasing any mandarins until i’ve uprgraded to my 100 gallon. But i’d like to know if there is an agreed upon difference in tank requirements for a captive bred versus wild caught specimens? I’d think a CB specimen wouldn’t be quite as demanding. Anyone know if this is actually the case?

I’m not feeding mine anything. I think he’s quite plump just picking pods off the rocks. I feed my tank quite heavily but never see him eat any frozen.

I didn’t QT mine. It’s a captive bred mandarin, so I took my chances with the risk. Unless you’re going to treat prophylactically, you may very well never see signs of disease in them because of their thick mucous coats.
