This is the first captive regal on r2r that I know of. Just thought I would share. Anyone have any tips or advise on baby regals?

I fed mine live newly hatched brine shrimp when he was that big. Then I eventually weaned him onto Hikari Marine S pellets. The little guy recently broke my heart when he started eating my corals. I have him for sale now in the classified section.

How have your regal babies been? Do they have a preferred food? My pair seem to enjoy the TDO pellets that are 1-2mm. I feed several times a day but most of them are not eaten and escape out of the acclimation box where they get eaten by my other fish.

Wondering when to release them into the display tank.

I ended up delaying the shipment of mine due to a snow storm. We should get them next week at this point.

From what Eliot at Marine Collectors has told me they are eating TDO chromoboot small, v2o krill 1.2mm, and a third thing that I keep forgetting. We'll keep them on that blend for a bit once they get here. They'll be the only fish in the tank for a month or two until they are comfortable.

That’s why mine has her own tank lol

are the regal yellow bellied or grey? I thought from what I was reading it's suppose to be yellow, but my LFS said they are grey

How can something be so cute, so beautiful and so regal all at the same time? :-) Congrats on scoring this beauty! Looks nice and healthy and chunky. :-)

Possibly both. Marine Collectors was selling them as yellow but they've discovered that BA is growing out both their grey bellies and yellows in the same tank. Since they look the same as juveniles there is a chance that yellows will be grey and vise versa. Marine Collectors has changed since they discovered this and are only selling them as captive bred regals not specifically yellow bellies.

Eliot offered me my money back and I got a personal phone call when he discovered the issue. We're happy to take a chance to get a captive bred and BA believes they know which are grey and yellow in the tank.

I wonder if they would cross-breed naturally.

I was going to import some, the price is pretty high, but I feel justified for what they are. I just don't have the local market that would buy them.

I was speaking to someone from them a few days ago. I asked about purchasing some clowns from them that I hadn't seen before. They didn't answer about the clowns but said I needed to purchase with a wholesaler to lower shipping costs and I needed to run a business. If you find any other way to order them please lmk because I want a lot of fish from them. Good Luck!

Yes, and actually probably someone who can import livestock into the US, hence the wholesaler part. I run a LFS, why I have access to them.
