I’m looking into a carberri anthias pair. However, I’ve never seen many pairs of anthias, just the normal shoals of 3-5. So do anthias even pair like other fish? Long term, would a pair be a good idea? Thanks!

Usually it's a male w/ a harem, and decent size harem is best to spread any badgering done by male.
Borbonious do pair, and if lucky bartletts might end as a pair, though they usually all turn male.

Anthias do not form bonded prs. Gender is determined through social hierarchy, so dominant fish bully less dominant fish. Groups diffuse aggression more than just a pr.

Can u tell me anything u know about the borbonius pairing? Will they fight a little at first?

Agree 100 percent.

I think the worst is probably one of the easiest to keep and that is lyretail.

I do think it would be possible with Dispar or Ignitus to keep pairs. They are very peaceful and I even have had sub male and male with several other females and no issues.

I currently have a single male and single female Lyretail pair in my tank. No problems at all but an occasional chasing of the female a lap around the tank but no more. I would say they are far from any kind of pairing but they get along and feed side by side. will sleep next to one another.
But the female though LOVES the borbonius in the tank and follows it around non stop and they do some pretty entertaining dancing around

Anything you can share about ur borbonius?

It is my second. One of the toughest fish I've had to get feeding on frozen food. Even harder to get out of the rocks to even attempt to feed. Now it eats everything and anything. Tons of character and just beautiful.

I don't know, I've never kept them.[/QUO

Mine like to spar a little in the morning, but other then that they hang out just fine
