I am currently running a 50 gallon sps reef using two part, plus part c of tropic marin. Current daily dosage = ~71ml. This means my daily usage is about 2dkh. I have considered trying carbocalcium just to simplify the system. Using the calculator on the tropic marin website it says my maximum daily dosage would be 47.31 ml per day which would only be 1.4 dkh per day. Is my math right here? Is carbo calcium not an option for me because of my demand?

If your alk need is higher, a higher dose is ok. There is nothing magic about max doses of supplements. I think most are designed for people who do not measure parameters, and may assume that more is always better.

1. I read calcium formate depletes oxygen as it is needed for the reaction that leads to the alk. Is it possible to use up too much O or is that not a concern here?
2. It's also an organic carbon source right, so it may lower nutrients. This is organic carbon right? What does inorganic carbon effect in the tank?

Decided to try carbocalcium powder, weighed out 70 grams, but it took a whole liter of distilled water to dissolve it.
Would my resulting stock solution be dilute , or would it be correct, being a normally saturated solution of the material?
From a dosing perspective ,I know it doesn't matter because one tweaks dosages, but to quantify uptake it would.
