Quick question, I just realized I put a .5 Micron Carbon Block in the RO/DI unit. Will that work fine?

Also, how long should I run the unit after changing the filters (Sediment, Carbon and DI resin)?

The pore size on carbon blocks is irrelevant for the most part. The important pore size is that on your sediment filter. The sediment filter should have smaller or equal pore size than that of your largest carbon block. Ideally, I like to have my sediment filter be smaller than all my carbon blocks. The reason for this is because your carbon blocks are mainly responsible for handling chlorine and chloramine. If they get clogged with sediment because your sediment filter is too big, that means fewer pores are available to handle chlorine/chloramine.

Sediment filters are cheap and easy to replace. Carbon blocks less so. It makes more sense to clog a sediment filter and replace it frequently than to do the same on your carbon blocks.

Ah well for this time I’ll run this one, next time I’ll grab the 1 micron.

Thanks.

What about running it after I change? I ran for about 10 mins and it was 2 tds going in to the di and 0 coming out, should I run it longer?
