carbon and lateral line disease ??

Can someone explain to me what the correlation is between carbon and lateral line disease. I have a Koran Angle that has develop LLD recently and not really sure what is going on. I always have had trouble with nitrates being high but phosphates next to nothing.. I do water changes every other month and have a working sump with protein skimmer and macro algae.. There is also a compartment in the end stage of the sump where I keep a couple bags of carbon.

Recently I heard that carbon can be a main cause of lateral line disease...
Any thoughts on this?

Carbon and stray voltage will sometimes cause HLLE... I think I remember reading about carbon dust from cheap carbon causing some tangs to develop it... I use ROX carbon, and never had HLLE on any of my fish...

Like Reeferdood, I've used a good quality GAC for decades, and have never had a problem. I think, if I were you, I'd review what I'm feeding, and do more frequent WC's and if you're using a budget grade of GAC, start using ROX 0.8 or similar, and thoroughly rinse before use.
