So this is the first time I have tried any of the nyos products. I know that the torq G1 had a tendency to have the lid pop off, but with the G2 they added a locking top so it could not do that. I had some extra points burning a hole in my pocket and wanted to try something new.
I have not had the chance to try it yet, because when it showed up the locking mechanism was broken off. When I contacted them they said it was a known issue, and that they would send a replacement, which I am waiting on. I then got to looking at it some more this morning.
Instead of using sponges it has screens. The reviews said the screens were better because they would not plug up as quickly as a sponge, so that flow would remain more constant over a longer period of time. In theory that sounds good. The problem is the screens can not be moved up or down. I was planning on using this for carbon, but without a sponge to lock the carbon in place how do I keep the carbon from tumbling?
Has anyone else used one of these? Do I need to just find my own sponge somewhere so I can run carbon? I am starting to wonder if I made a mistake doing an impulse buy, but I do think it looks pretty sitting next to the tank waiting for parts!
