So this is the first time I have tried any of the nyos products. I know that the torq G1 had a tendency to have the lid pop off, but with the G2 they added a locking top so it could not do that. I had some extra points burning a hole in my pocket and wanted to try something new.

I have not had the chance to try it yet, because when it showed up the locking mechanism was broken off. When I contacted them they said it was a known issue, and that they would send a replacement, which I am waiting on. I then got to looking at it some more this morning.

Instead of using sponges it has screens. The reviews said the screens were better because they would not plug up as quickly as a sponge, so that flow would remain more constant over a longer period of time. In theory that sounds good. The problem is the screens can not be moved up or down. I was planning on using this for carbon, but without a sponge to lock the carbon in place how do I keep the carbon from tumbling?

Has anyone else used one of these? Do I need to just find my own sponge somewhere so I can run carbon? I am starting to wonder if I made a mistake doing an impulse buy, but I do think it looks pretty sitting next to the tank waiting for parts!

Cutout your own sponge and setup the way you want.

Interested in your feedback from using the new version. The new modifications sound like they will really improve this reactor.

Let us know!

I was wondering how this G2 is working for you now? I understand from the reviews that the G1 was a complete fail.

I have not got to try it yet.

I contacted ecotech and after a week of going back and forth through emails I got an email saying, good news. We can replace your broken part, all you have to do is call our customer service. After 30 mins on call (20 mins being on hold) I was told they could replace the part. They would ship me out a new one, and I would return the broken one in the same box. I was also told it could all be one for the cost of $1. I know that's not much, but it is irritating they are charging me a small, non-refundable fee to fix something that came broken.

Anyway, I was charged the $1 on my credit card a little over a week ago and am still waiting on the replacement part. So long story short, I have not gotten to try it out yet. I can update you if I ever get it working.

Yeah I have not seen a coupon in the mail from Nyos for buying their first gen. Typical buyer beware product and C/S.

I contacted them on 2/9 since it had been 2 months since they charged me the $1 to replace the part that came broken and was told I will still on the list to get a replacement, but they didn't have any yet. So I bought it on 11/8/21 and have not got to try it yet since it came broken, and apparently takes who knows how long to get replaced....

Not good…. that sucks. Over 2 months and you cant even provide a review

Just a quick update in case anyone comes across this thread. The nyos was ordered 11/8/21 and came broke in mail. Finally got the to agree to replace it on 2/9/22 and placed a $1 charge on my card. It is now 7/24/22, almost one year later, and the part is still on the way......

Almost 1 year and it hasn't even been plugged in yet. Not sure I would recommend this one.
