I have a Seaclone that I DIY into a chaeto reactor. I am realizing there is just not enough chaeto volume to make an impact on nutrients reduction. It does help with pH stability for the off cycle of lighting from the display tanks lighting. Also a minimal impact for phosphates.
This is where I need help for a possible over haul of that project.
In the Seaclone is a plastic tube that the water flows up through in a tornado movement and up to the skimmer cup. It has a controllable air valve which I have shut off, because of the chaeto inside that tube. O² would not be good for the survival for the chaeto. I am thinking of screening the bottom of the plastic chamber so bio pellets will not fall through with some silicone and a plastic screen to allow water to flow through.
My question would be. Is it bad idea to raise the O² intake through the bio pellets?
I have gathered that a tumble is needed for the bio pellets, but would O² through the bio pellets have any adverse effects on what it supposed to do?
If I did this. It will allow the collection cup on top to be utilized again for skimming. I am not asking for a miracle from the skimmer itself. I am looking more of the miracle to come from the carbon dosing from the bio pellets and pull maybe a little skim out from the collection cup.

Oxygen at the levels attainable are not going to harm biopellets.

I’m not a fan of such pellets due to the difficulty in controlling the effect or the timing of effects on things like pH and O2 depletion.

Alright sounds like I will stick with the chaeto. I like the pH stability factor. Maybe I will try something else to rid my GHA. It is such a problem. Mainly due to over feeding. Thanks for the help and.opinion.
