we can agree to disagree... adding chemicals to treat a symptom verse fixing the cause is not the way I do things.... and not logical
just a temporary fix to a permanent problem.

does it work yes but if you stop the carbon dosing you will have an algae outbreak. so yes a "band aid" is a good representation

y- I did the whole carbon thing about 10-12 years ago, I am speaking from experience.... the best I found was blackstrap molasses but I learned the hard way.

Agree with you that if used as a short-term solution (and not planned to be continual), it won't stop new nutrient buildup. Disagree with you that it's just a "bandaid" when used as part of regular maintenance...it becomes a regular method of export used to continually export nutrients. Glad we can agree to disagree.

Personally i use brown sugar every other week and it works great. Hope this is not concidered a chemical.

May have to take my fish to the Dentist. lol

All comments here speaking about vodka and vinegar dosing , no one use bio pellets reactor ?
How about mixing vinegar or vodka in ATO and keep running bio pellets ?
Any one do this method ?

I hear it's all poisonous. Lol
And check their insulin levels. Ha ha Mine just keep bumping into each other from their morning vodka dose...wonder what happens to the ones that get vinegar...

downplay it all you want, but yes sugar is poison it is a drug. and in humans your body processed it the same way as cocaine and heroin. im not a health nut but it sounds like you guys need to do a little more research.....

again if you want to see what happens when you add to much look at hawaii and what they did to a section of the ocean

Bro, you need to chill. You are getting way too worked up. As far as research goes, I've done plenty...I thought we agreed to disagree.

Carbon-dosing is definitely not poisonous (for that matter neither is sugar). Anything in excess is unhealthy, even things we definitely need in our bodies...sugar is a good example... oxygen is another...

You don't like carbon-dosing. We got that loud and clear. We do...I think you got that loud and clear. People have been dosing for years with no loss of livestock as a result. If it were poisonous, shouldn't we see negative results? None of us have. So...moral is that there's many ways to have a healthy and stable reef.

...my fish just might bump into each other a little more than yours and look a little happier because they got their morning shot.

I will let you all in on a secret :) I do dose Methylsulfonylmethane thats only because it is naturally most abundant in the ocean and there isnt anyone who has it in there tank (unless you use fresh rain water for your tank)
