carbon filters in my RODI ??

Greetings ! The pressure on my water filter has dropped from around 70 psi to just over 40 psi.
(still giving me a zero on the TDS Meter ) . According to my records I haven't replaced anything since March last year.
so I purchased new cartridge's . 2 carbons & di resin . So the LFS dude suggested I run 2 carbon cartridges sans the sediment. I have been doing this for several years now & in my op I get longer life out of my ro membrane. I bought a 1 micron & one 5 micron. he says to put the 1 micrion 1st then the 5 second.
Does it sound right to run the smaller 1st then the larger ? If so your OP why. Just curious !

It doesn't make sense to me, usually you want progressively smaller filtration. If that 1 micron filter is first it's probably going to get clogged quick

It doesn’t sound right to me at all.

You want progressively smaller filtration otherwise as already said surely it will just get clogged up to quickly.

And what’s the point in putting a 5 micron second, when the water has been filtered already at 1.......

Thanks for the OP's. I don't know why I didn't ask here a long time ago ! Doesn't sound right to me either. I will ask him to elaborate next time I'm there. In the mean time I'm placing the larger first , find out for myself !

Hey Folks, just checking in. So the changed out the 2 carbons ( place the larger micron first ! ) & new DI resin. Got all my pressure back & reading zero's . Changed carbon cartridges September last year . (thought it was March ) not sure how I blew that. 7 months & I make a lot of water . this was with the fine carbon first. We shall see how long these last. Thanks for the reply's !
