Just bought a Aquaclear 70, it has coarse filter, filter media and carbon. While researching the filter on you tube came across a couple of videos suggesting maybe not using carbon. What is the latest info and opinions on carbon?

You will get a ton of responses on both sides of the fence. I run carbon 24X7 for water clarity.....some don't run it at all or keep it strictly for emergencies. I think the key is to use a high quality carbon like ROX .8 and use it in smaller amounts, changing it frequently.

I’ve been running carbon in my tanks for over 30+ years, for water Clarity and quality and coral warfare(toxins) 24/7, if there are detrimental effects I have not experienced them in my systems.
