Hi,

What’s everyone’s opinion in putting carbon in a sump?
Is it beneficial or just a waste of time?
Pros and cons?
For or against?

Look forward to your responses

I use over a cubic foot, back wash from time to time. Best thing I could of done.

I used to have carbon in my tank all the time. I no longer use it and my tank has never been healthier.
I think it depends on what’s in your tank. I do make sure I always have carbon just in case though.

Water clarity and the removal of toxins is the top benefits to me with carbon. Better if you run in a reactor IMO.

BRS has a good video on this, I think they were surprised how poorly the mesh bag in a flow did compared to a reactor

24/7 in a reactor for me.
