How much carbon is ok to use? 120 gallon reef, probably 100 gallons of water total. About five years old. I ran carbon when I first setup the tank haven't used for about a year now. Everything was going good till I got velvet. Most of the fish are ok in QT now. I removed biopellets yesterday because of some brown slime inside of pumps and overflows probably not enough nutrients for the pellets anymore. Only filters now are skimmer and roller mat fleece. Is it ok to run twice as much carbon recommend by BRS for a few weeks?

If you have corals in your tank I'd take it slow with re-introducing carbon, especially a powerful GAC like ROX 0.8. Too much added at once has been known to induce RTN. I would start with much less than recommended and work up from there if necessary and assuming no negative reactions.
