Hello reefers does anyone run carbon in (Reef) if so why?

For me its just a luxury. Im sure contaminates get in the tank and it just keeps me at ease. I run it passively though

I throw some in a bag once a month or when I remember and leave it in the tank. Im under the assumption it exhausts within the first week or so and just sits there the rest of the time.

I keep some in a media bag in a hob filter. It's a smaller tank (26) with no sump.

+1 on that. Its pretty short lived. I run mine 24/7 with a bag of purigen though. I swap it out once a month. I have other things in the tank that could turn deadly pretty quickly if something happened to them. So yes I'd still run it. It also helps with the smell of fish tank in the house.

It's cheap and efficient at removal of nasties. It just exhausts quickly. I couldn't speak on how long it lasts in a reactor, or how it compares to GFO, because I've never used either.

Do you think it has a positive, negative or no effect on a reef tank with fish in it?
