Carbon?

Hey all,

I just had a quick question about carbon and if there is much of a difference between brands.
My LFS has fluval in stock Or I could order a bulk ESV product online.

should I really be as concerned or are they all pretty similar?

I've found them to be similar. I use fluval and it does the job fine

Brand of carbon is meaningless. The only thing that matters is the type of carbon (e.g. bituminous, lignite, Rox, etc.). There are pros/cons to each, but the packaging is meaningless.

Amazing thanks all. I like the rox .08 from Bulk Reef Supply but the Canadian exchange is horrid. :-( the ESV one is a bituminous one and seems like that should work fine and it’s 6$ a pound.

I have used several and settled on ROX. Reason is you use less and I dont even have to rinse it.

Second choice would be Seachem.

Though on the pricey side, I too like Seachem Matrix Carbon. I like the dense spherical shape of the carbon that allows water to flow evenly through it when using it in a reactor.
