Will help remove toxins and clear up the yellow tint in the water. I don't run carbon in my tank but I might just to clear things up.

This will help.

so should i dose my tank?

I don't dose anything at this time and I still test for the following. Reminds me I need to check parameters tonight and this is what I test for weekly.

pH (I use a pH meter pen)
Phosphates (Hanna Phosphorus Checker)
Nitrates (Salifert)
Magnesium (Salifert)
Calcium (Salifert)
Alk (Salifert)
Salinity (Refractometer)

would i ever need to dose it if i had soft corals?
Hard to tell If you do water changes regularly possibly no not with just softies. I have a hard time keeping Nitrates and Phosphates at the correct levels (mine are low) and I might have to figure out a way to raise those. I don't have fish in my tank it only 4g total volume. So when I do a water change I am changing out 2-2.5 gallons bi-weekly.
