I have a 20g tank that just came out of it's cycle. It's full of macro alage and a few seagrass and I purchased my first fish. A Tail Spot Blenny and a Royal Gramma.

I don't want to go the way of clownfish in this tank and have been looking at cardinals as an option.

I really like the look of Bangaii Cardinal and I was thinking 3 of them would fit nicely in the tank. Any future plan is to have a few small species of goby (I plan on having Greenbanded they grow at about 1 inch). Are bangaii cardinal to much for my tank? or is the number of 3 too much?

I was also thinking of Pajama Cardinal (magic number is 3. I want them to be comfortable. Im aware more is better)

I love Bangaii cardinals they are great fish. I don't like the look of pajamas, they look like you chopped 3 different fish up and sowed the different parts together like Frankenstein

I like both and I think Pajamas' are awesome looking :3

If you go with bangaiis try and get a pr rather than 3. Two will pr up and kill the third.

Thanks! I've done some research today about them, trying to figure out how to sex them. I'd love a male and female duo with the possibilities of spawning later on.

even two bangaii's may not get along. best would be a bonded pair. pj's usually work better in a group, but they get pretty ugly when mature. I have only one in my 120 gal. and it's one of my favorite fish.

And then this post came right after.

Those are gorgeous. I think my LFS carries them every once in a while. I'll stop by there today and beg them to order some.

I think a year or two ago when I first was thinking to have cardinals these were the first on my list.

Thanks!
