I have heard back and have been going back and fourth. First they tried to put the problem back on us..

“There are a lot of variables such as water quality and light intensity. Since we do not use paint on the rocks like our competition and we use an item similar to our purple up, the colors can change due to these factors”

I’ve been in the hobby since 1987 so I would say I’m not a beginner.

I had some issues with ATI skimmers when they first came out with the powercone, they didn’t jerk us around like CaribSea is doing.

I’m glad they are standing behind their product - NOT

They asked me if I had grazing snails.... That’s why the rocks GREEN and I have something leaching into the water and collecting in the surface... [emoji2959]

This man made rock may be eco friendly but it’s garbage!

I run the eshops nano skimmer. I used Biro Spira to cycle. I used 3 x recommended dose. I too ran skimmer on lowest setting and it was nuts. I had read somewhere that the liferock build process had changed from when it was first introduced. I'm on week 3 of running my skimmer and it's working well. I agree with the heavy and dense comments on the rock but overall I'm happy with the rock. I think with this rock and live sand theres going to naturally be crazy skimming at first. My skimmer has moved up to the middle setting on the pump. Thats probably where it will stay.

Idk how I feel about the rock yet. Skimmer took 3 weeks to break in, rock faded a little but thats not a big deal. My problem is how much po4 the rock is leaching. Did u notice an increase in po4? Especially after the nitrogen cycle had been completed and nutrient import was at a minimum?

You need to skim all that out, whatever is if it just overflows back into the sump the skimmer will take a long time to settle down. Put the cup back on if it has a drain line let it drain into a 5g bucket if not just dump it when the cup fills up. Just treat it like a water change, be sure to have new saltwater mixed and ready to top off the sump.

This is the answer. Do a water change through the skimmer and it’ll solve your problem. No need to take it offline.

Worked like a charm. I have a RSR350 with roughly 60lbs of new life rock in it. My skimmer is a Nyos 160 and has been broken in for a year and a half however, all of a sudden it went mad after adding the the new life rock in it and would not stop over skimming. Your advice ended up doing the trick. I drained roughly 15 gallons or so via the drain elbow on the skimmer cup to a 5 gallon bucket and constantly topped off the sump with fresh saltwater. A water change and fixed skimmer was the result. Two birds with one stone!

Thanks DesertReefT4r!

No problem, glad it worked for you. This same thing happens when dosing Chemiclean to remove cyano. Just letting the skimmer overflow and remove what in the water causing it is the only fix.
