Caribsea life rock

Anyone here use the stuff? If so what are your thoughts? Do you have any pictures?
Im in the middle of a new build and Im buying a bunch of it. Over on another "forum" there's been a couple threads mentioning it lately but not many responses...

I tried using it in two different tanks. In a new tank and an established tank almost two years old. I believe this rock leaches some bad stuff. I experienced a severe bloom of GHA on all the rock. Any other rock in the tanks that was dry or live cured rock never had any GHA while in the same tank. I tried everything to get rid of it. Between manually removal, scrubbing, H2O2 and vinegar. I eventually pulled it out. Some of the rock started to fall apart and crumble. Most of the pieces that were broken upon arrival appeared to be either concrete or dry rock in the center with concrete over it. Also I noticed in some of the pieces what appeared to be rust. Basically this rock seems like concrete junk with a mix of sand/shells with a coat of purple paint. I wouldn't recommend it. Maybe I got a bad batch but I didn't have any luck. Even they guys at Aquatic Warehouse in San Diego said its bunk rock.

I had the usual algae growing pains that inevitably happen during new tank cycling but once everything settled in all has gone well. I have primarily LPS along with some zoos and a pink Nepthea.

I had the usual algae growing pains that inevitably happen during new tank cycling but once everything settled in all has gone well. I have primarily LPS along with some zoos and a pink Nepthea.

Looks good. I'm wondering if I had a bad batch. Mine was the Caribsea Branch life rock. As soon as I pulled it out I had no issues in either tank. All my other live/dry rock is fine with no GHA growth.

yeah I have it to and its amazing I will never use live or dry rock again it looks good and stays clean

I went to lfs grab some live rock and went to Marco rocks and bought dry rock and over time the coralline spreaded. Safest way I did

I now have a 210 and 125 fowlr and a 90 reef using it(40 breeder grow out tank transferred to 125) After a while rock is rock, once the tank matures you will not be able able to tell what you used. This rock has interesting shapes and no worries of pests, bubble algae, aiptasia, or the likes. I use liferock, live sand, bio-spira, and dr tim's ammonia and I'm cycled in less than 2 weeks(cycling through ammonia 3 times or more).

MHO.......
If you're building a FOWLR, I can understand using this rock. It's colorful form day one. If you're building a "reef tank", I don't quite get it. The goal for most reefers is to display coral. Not rock. The rock is simply a foundation to hold coral and serves as biological filtration. IMHO, Marco rock, and others like it, are much better quality rock, due to its porosity. The price is better too. If the rock is covered in coral, and no one can see it, what difference does it make what color it is???

I used the Carib Sea Life Rock in my 40 breeder tank about 2 years ago and it is all I will ever use again. With all the bacteria and enzymes cultutured into the rock and using live sand it was supper easy to cycle ( about 3 weeks ) and pest free. I bought mine thru Pet Mountain on line for about half the price of live rock with free shipping.

Tank has been running a week so I don’t have any long term thoughts but it was easy to scape and I’m impressed with the look.
