Caribsea life rock

Glad to share.
I have a 280g DT and a 40g, both are scaped with caribsea life rock... all shapes and sized.
350# in total.
From day 1, that's the only rock I've used.
I cycled in less than 2 weeks and never went through any of the "uglies". 18+ mo later, still no issues, no leeching that I'm aware of, and good coralline growth. I never had cloudy water and my biofilter is well established.
Short of real live rock from Fiji or Tonga, I won't use anything else.

The tank I'm running now is my first tank. I started it with the LifeRock and love it. I know there are a lot of people that advocate live rock for the biodiversity and I totally understand that point of view. I chose to start with this dry rock because I didn't want to deal with possible pests on top of everything else. Being new to saltwater there was so much I was dealing with that I wouldn't have been able to deal with pets as well. People often say dry rock makes the ugly stage worse but I'm seven months in and haven't had any real issues with the uglies. I had a little bit of cyano and a bit of green algae but nothing extreme and both are fading away but I try to make sure my parameters stay balanced. I would definitely use this rock again for another tank. It's seeded with bacteria which is where the "life" in the name comes from. Good luck!

I'm using it. It's not cheap. If you order arches, I had about 50% breakage that had to be epoxied back together. I made structures and trees out of bases and arches. It's on another level compared to the marco boulder type rock. Way better habitat for the fish if you spend some time making structures for them to hide and sleep in. I used emarco cement in some places while building.

I used it for the first time in my most current tank (first time using dry rock), and I absolutely hate it. I’ve started probably 15 tanks over the years, and I’ve never had issues with any of them like I have with this rock, I will never use dry rock again. It’s not porous, the paint they put on it repels real coralline algae, it’s got this dust that comes out from the middle of it (I thoroughly rinse it when I put it in the tank, but over time when I blow the rocks off, all of this dust/sand comes out of the few holes it has), because coralline won’t grow on it it’s prone to nuisance algae, it’s a phosphate sponge, it’s boring (microfauna and all the life on live rock is half of what makes a reef tank interesting) and it doesn’t even look natural. Overall it’s just inferior to real live rock in every single way. If I was setting up a new tank today, I’d just get real live rock from KP or Gulf LR.

It’s was never going to have the life of live rock, because it isn’t live rock! (Although it also doesn’t have the pests of live rock).

I’m not sure it’s fair to compare it to live rock; it would be more appropriate to compare it to other dry rock.

My first batch hopefully arrives soon. I’m trying it after using Marco Rock (which I love) and Stax (which I hate) so it won’t be as big a jump for me. I’m interested to see how it comes out.

I have recently purchased about 15 lbs over the last year to supplement 25+ year old live rock 75 + lbs. It has caused me no issues thus far and seems to be seeding in to the old reef . I didn't want pests ....I have vermetids always have but won battle vs Aiptasia. No need for future invaders....as for a new tank? No clue....

Marco rock mixed with Florida live rock works well. The stuff your looking at may not be very porous and it's expensive. I've never used it but it seems popular with people wanting a mature looking tank fast

I bought two orders of this stuff from Amazon. First order was $47.46 and the second order was $49.32. 40 pounds each. I couldn’t believe it. Later bought a third box for $55.74 for when I finish my 300 gallon build. Unfortunately it’s now discontinued. Same company is selling 20 pounds on Amazon for $60. Guess they figured it out.

This isn't anything close to what the OP mentioned. And as new member with your rather nefarious reviews by the minute you should be banned or at minimum have your knuckles rapped.

I don’t understand. All I’m trying to show is that I prefer white base rocks to purple base rocks. Why is that nefarious or a problem for you?

Life rock is dry rock that’s painted purple, isn’t it?
it's seeded with bacteria....Carib Sea Life Rock is actually seeded with bacteria.

If it comes dry, it’s not seeded with bacteria. Nitrosomas and nitrobacter cannot be dry and still be alive.

If it comes dry, it’s not seeded with bacteria. You need to get an education in biology. Nitrosomas and nitrobacter cannot be dry and still be alive. And something else for you. The USA has something called the First Amendment. Freedom of speech. That’s what makes us an exceptional nation. Because no other nation has that. Not Canada not the EU nobody. Now get lost.
And there we have it..... sigh....
