Carpenters wrasse vs Blue Flasher wrasse?

I've always heard the blue flasher wrasse is the top of the pops, but when I see pictures of the carpenters wrasse and the blue flasher side by side, they both look to have the same amount of 'flashy' parts. Maybe I'm missing something because I haven't seen either up close and personal but is their a huge difference? If so, who is even selling blue flasher wrasses?

I just got my blue flasher in on wednesday from divers den. Def much more blue around the body. It isnt as orange and the the lines across the body arent as pronounced. Thats not to say its not as flashy though. They fins are much more pronounced since it has more filaments up top. I owned a carpenters some years ago and he was very shy compared to my blue flasher wrasse

I would take the Blue flasher over the Carpenter's. I currently own the Linespot flasher. the Blue flasher is similar to the Linespot when they flash. the Blue flasher is not as common also and from the ones I've owned, they tend to come smaller in size than the Carpenter's. don't get me wrong.. a full blown Terminal male Carpenter's is also very nice. how about owning both?

who is even selling blue flasher wrasses?

they tend to be seasonal and right now seems to be the time of the year most wrasses come in. LA DD seems to have them frequently if your LFS cannot get one. good luck.

Season for lbues seemed like just last month. I personally was awestruck when I saw my blue flasher flash. It was an incredible display and the change in color was so drastic, it was quite the show. I'd also choose the blue flasher over the carpenters.

just to give you an idea on what a Linespot look like in "flash" mode. since the Blue Flasher is very similar. main difference is the tail. Blue flasher has a lyretail, like Filamented flashers.

just to be fair.. Carpenter's flasher. this guy was the biggest Carpenter's I've ever seen. probably 3.5"

Great info.....so it looks like in 'standby' mode, carpenters/mccoskers have a little more pop, but in 'flash' mode, blue flasher wins

Colorwise, when not flashing, I think carpenters may win, with their varying orange hues, and electric blue lines. When flashing, linespot's take the prize...
