So heres my dilemma. I have a pretty nice size carpet anem and I found out that it ate my convict tang over night. Is there anyway to prevent this from happening to any of my other fish or should I look to get rid of it. A possible solution which was brought to my attention was to by more clown fish. I already have 4 which hang out in my long tenticle anem. Do you guys think getting another pair of a different kind will help cause the anem will host them? Any thoughts or help would be great. thanx.

Carpets eat fish sometimes. Sorta their thing. Maybe you could target feed your carpet nem, that might help. They have been known to eat clowns too. I would get rid of your carpet if you want to prevent this from happening again.

Don't buy more clowns. Don't buy another pair of different clowns.

Sorry that happened to you. You should consider getting ride of it if you want fish in a smaller tank (who thought a 75 gallon tank was small right :) ) All it takes is one time bumping into it an that is a wrap.

I have had maxi minis eat fish..
Carpets do that sometimes and it seems to happen to tangs allot.
Clowns wont help. My tang used to harass my clarkii clowns and get stung by my anemone all the time. Lucky it was not a carpet or he would have been gone.

I bought a porcelain anemone crab and it hosts my carpet I've had it now for over a year since that crab has hosted it it seems less grabby. I spot feed it formula one frozen food once a week and I noticed a big change in its grabbiness once it got used to the crab.

The crabs are competitive. I had two between 5 BTAs, one always claimed them all. Not sure how large of a tank you are getting, but if it's one nem, I think only one crab will win out.

I had an 80 G with 3 Haddonis and a bubble tip years back and had no losses, still had couple of fish eaten in a 150 with one Haddoni. Unfortunately they are too sticky and have a nasty sting that fish stand a little chance if they come too close. My clowns became a bit more aggressive over time and grabbed abd threw New fish into the anemone.

Definitely going to eat another fish. I had one for years and it ate a lot of fish. Finally got rid of it. I had a pair of clown fish as well

Definitely will eat another fish. Mine unfortunately ate a lot of my fish over a eight year span and finally got rid of it. I also had a pair of clown fish. Now I have a bubble tip ; )

I had a carpet nem eat a cleaner shrimp. It was horrifying watching it happen. I took the whole rock out it was attached to and brought it to my LFS. They were in the same 125 gallon tank for about a year and a half with no issues until that day...

well now we got that figured out. anyone have any idea how to get that bad boy out. he is stuck to the bottom of the tank?

The only fish mine ate was a yellow tang that I tried to rescue from Petco but it t died over night and as I went to net it out for a refund the power head pushed it right into my anemone. I've moved it 3 times and I've seen my fish get tagged by it on multiple occasions but it never really pulls them in. I've had it almost 3 years.
