Carpet anemone looking rough.

Today my carpet started looking pretty bad. Still has the color but stuff is flaking off the mouth. I can't tell if it is dying or expelling waste. Water params are all normal and the Nem has been in the tank for a month or so.

Tank has been cycled for 3 months. Everything else in the tank is thriving.

Man, I did research before I bought and my lfs assured me that id be fine.. bummer he's been like this for about 6 hours. Should I remove it and take it to the lfs tomorrow?

I agree that nems should be placed in a mature tank. I am not very experienced with them so I tagged several who are.

Also I will move this thread to the forum for nems.

Have you fed it recently? If so, when and what did you feed it? Has is moved recently? Any other changes (maintenance, livestock additions, etc) to the tank recently?

It's not looking good. Sometimes haddoni do this during the QT process and then quickly bounce back, almost as if they need to invert their stomachs to remove waste. If it hasn't improved, take it out and start Cipro treatment.

I would qt this nem asap. And shame on your lfs for selling you this if they knew your tank was only 3 months old. Anything to make a buck where did you research 3 months is ok? What lights are you running? In the picture which isn’t that clear that nem appears to be starting to fall apart.if so watch it closely.

It does not look like he will live long. Best chance is to take him out and treat him with antibiotic.
