I work at lfs, and the carpet nem that we recieved last week really seems intereting. I believe it's a haddoni, but I'm not sure as I do see some spots on the underside but not very distinct or as many as I've seen in pics of gigs. The nem itself looks kinda bland, but the foot is bright blue, and the nem had seemed healthy so I don't think it was dyed. Has anyone else seen one like this?

Nem

I have seen alot of giganteas with a blue foot. Surpisingly the color fades over time. Out of the ones i have seen most have faded to tan after time in captivity.

I once saw a magnifica with a part red and part purple base.

I think it has to do with lighting.

Its def a gigantea and the base should be tan in captivity.

Wow, quick response! Well good to hear it's normal, too bad that it'll fade... But if you say gigantea I'll take it, I was on the fence with my ID as I do see some spots underneath, but weren't very bold.

Gigantea

I mean judging by the pictures it foot is in the sand so im leaning towards haddoni.

gigantea's spots are very noticeable. Here is a good pic

It could be Stichodactyla Gigantea or a Haddoni maybe Mertensii. Does it withdraw completely when disturbed?

I'll have to take a better pic if its still there when I go in tomorrow. I just dug a pit in the sand and placed it there, it did dig itself in, but if it'll help I'll put a rock next to it. It arrived last Friday, and the clarkii clowns have been all up and in it since its been put in.

The only true way to tell is the verracruce aka little spots. In a haddoni its barely noticeable in a gigantea like the picture i posted its very very noticeable.

If it dug in the sand it could be haddoni but i have seen gigantea dig into sand to reach rock.

Try and get a pic like the one i posted.

It is 1000% not a mertens, this is what a mertens looks like.
