I make this post with great trepidation. I've got a fair amount of experience and I beg you please don't restate the obvious. My carpets mouth has remained open for days. I know this is the sign of a problem. However there are no obvious answers. Nothing has changed other than the hosting of a clown just began a few days ago, coinciding with the beginning of this issue. I understand this is likely coincidence. Otherwise the carpet appears perfectly healthy and normal, which it obviously is not. Thoughts or ideas?

I've got maxspect razor LEDs R420R 27in/160w

I feed him whatever he'll take. A piece of shrimp couple times a week, but he hasn't taken anything since this began. Had him a few months and he's done great! I keep expecting to see other symptoms or signs of stress but nothing.... I'm concerned for sure but I'm at a loss. Any ideas?!

Ammonia 0
Ph 8.1
Nitrites 0 ppm
Nitrates 0 ppm
Phosphates 0.03 ppm
Calcium 560 ppm
Alkalinity 10.0 dKH
Magnesium 1380 ppm

What are your parameters? How often do you feed it? What lighting do you have?

The clowns could be "lovin" it to death. And you know (obviously) that these anemones are very hard to keep. I can't give you any advice on this one. I've never had one. I do know that my clown killed three BTA's before I finally had to re-home him to a 330g. I then bought two BTA's and let them get big and healthy before introducing any more clowns. I wish you luck. Surely someone one here has experience with S.Haddoni.

dang your Cal is high...I know that aint got nothign to do with it but just saw that..lol

Still got all your fish? mine did that when it was about to spit up a 4 inch hippo..

Yeah I can only attribute the high calcium to the Red Sea salt I just switched to...
Yeah no fish are MIA. My fathers old carpet had a way of consuming tangs then sharing remains also... But no it's nothing he ate. Is it possible for these guys to "get a cold"? Not literally but u know what I mean. I swear I'm not being anthropomorphic but I'm just getting over a head cold. Not saying my carpet got my cold but is there some sorta analogous thing for marine life? Gotta feeling its a bad question but u never know unless u google... or ask.

The clowns being a great host! Nothing obvious which would stress the carpet. I bet it's that evil, murderous hydnophora!!

I was about to email you! The carpet I had... well through a series of bizarre events I suddenly ended up with three clowns doing battle for hosting rights!

I can't accept the answer of "carpets are hard to keep".... that's just too unsatisfying. Things are difficult keep for very specific reasons and until I can find this reason I'll keep trying.

I've most likely doomed myself to that conclusion haven't I? "Carpets are hard to keep"... heavy sigh. my parents once told me that if I kept my mouth open I could freeze that way. Perhaps my carpet wasn't told?

I'm soooo relieved! Not saying he's 100% but he ate today!!!! He was all spread out and the second I gave him his food he does that thing they do using their folds to get food to mouth. Clown was there but only to offer moral support...

What size tank is it in? They like to stretch their legs out so to speak and don't like to get pounded by waves.

Even though you seem to have some issue with me, I care more about the S. haddoni than your feelings towards me.

Your Mag is low, would prefer it to be around 1500.

You stated that nothing changed, but you stated that you just changed salts -- how long ago was that? Change of salts can sometimes cause issues.
Are you dosing anything, anything at all -- including sugar or any carbon type dosing.
Are the clowns still picking at the mouth?
Is there any brownish stringy "snot" comming out of the mouth?
How long have you had your current lights? What lights was it under prior to them?
Was this anemone from a local reefer, or was it shipped?
What are you feeding it, how often, and how large of pieces?
Any other anemones in the tank?
What do you have for flow?

It is always hard to tell with pictures, but it appears to be slightly bleached, and the tentacles are a tiny bit shorter than I would like to see.
