Thought you guys might find this cool and interesting. Here's some visible differences in brightness and color in zoas grown under T5, metal halide, and LED's. The one on the left is from a friends tank with metal halides(believe it's a 250), the one on the right was from my display tank with T5's(ATI bulbs), and the one on the bottom right had been in my frag tank under LED's(slimline S12 led) for a few months. Not the greatest pic but the differences are still pretty apparent.

The T5 and LED CAR's share the same water because I plumbed the 15gal frag tank into the sump on my 90gal display(I know, I should separate them haha). Sorry, but I don't know the specific water parameters because I try do a routine 15gal water change a week and will only test should I notice something looks off. I use aquavit to salinity salt which has an alk around 8(when I tested it in the past). I also have a zoa dominated system with well over 100 kinds. My friend with the metal halides has a SPS dominant tank and he does dose as well.

Curious if these are all from the same original colony? I ask because there are several morphs of CARS floating around or collected at different times or different locations.

I have a similar example with a frag off of my sunny D colony. The tall frag is chopped off the mother colony under led. The lower frag has grown under the halide they're both under now

weird, i had very bright CARS under MH, what type of bulb are you using? also how high did you have them or how low?

also the cars under my LEDS are bright as heck and in the T5s there the Best.

i was trying to look at them Really hard at first i thought it was 3 different strains of CARS. as i have a few types of strains of CARS there all bright only 2 Of my colonys are DULL, But with really really high light they do color up Bright red and Red veins going to the mouth.

Its very interesting to see this. But other factors play into size and coloration just as lighting does. Nutrient levels, flow, placement etc can all play a role.
