I keep hearing about calcium reactor media turning into a slushy if the PH gets too low. Does anyone have pics/videos/experience with this? I keep hearing about it, but I cant find any evidence of it.

Not saying it doesn't happen, I'm just curious what it looks like.

Well it ain’t that hard.
It kinda looks like dirty sour cream, too wet thunder, rich vanilla shake, no sirious it does but kalk paste is a good match as well.

Imagine that you have the media in your hand that kinda still has some shape, but when you squish it with your fingers, it falls to wet, mushy grit. I have no idea why anybody would take a video of this... if it happens, you need to change it ASAP and I am not sure if social media is anybody's first concern.

Someone needs to make a "Dont do this" video. Not on purpose....but next time they jack up their reactor.

But I guess ideally, you wont jack up your reactor.

Nobody wants to post a picture of their reactor media junk shot on here?

Seems that Reefers got enough pride and common sense to do immediate remedial maintenance when they get a slushie instead of grabbing their cell phones and posting nasty pictures.

Try looking for this kind of photo on Facebook. The slushie kind of looks like grey oatmeal vomit and you can probably find that on FB.
:)

You would need to set up a camera on your CaRx for a few weeks... like a birthing camera on captive born Panda. The media takes long, stable, low PH to melt and it sometimes takes days or weeks. If anybody does this, be ready to watch a 200 hour video to see it all unfold. It would be truly riveting video.

If you need a video to believe or understand what is happening, then something is amiss. This is quite easily prevented and avoided without any video.

I just jacked up my CaRx, set the probe on 5.51 Ph and with a 8.26 bubble rate per 45.5 sec
If it turns to paste I will make a YT vid of it

I cannot tell if you are kidding or not. If you are indeed doing this, then test your alk a few times a day... the reactor will do OK for a while and then nearly shut off. If you wait a day or two, your alk could be down in the 4s or 5s. It might take a week or two to get it all to melt.
