So is this a molt, or did my fire shrimp meet his demise? I rarely see him, and can't find him in the tank now...

Looks like a molt to me, but shrimp that have been dead awhile can have their shells cleaned out to look like molts.

I too think molt
My fire shrimp gas scared me more than once to find he was perfectly fine

Wondering if the flow is too high for him in my tank, as he never comes out from his ledge....at least not that I have seen. maybe at night?
Mine doesn't come out to much either. I wouldn't worry about the flow as long as the shrimp is not blowing across the tank. LOL

The one time I did see mine come out, it almost startled me. I was watching the fish eat, and saw him crawl out of a little cave to grab a bite...looked like some sort of space creature coming out of there...lol

Are skunk cleaner shrimp as reclusive as the Fire Shrimp? I love the appearance of my fire shrimp (when I see him), but considering switching to skunk/peppermint shrimp when I get a new tank.

Typically they are not reclusive. I hardly ever see fire shrimp, but skunk cleaners are usually out in the open, advertising to clean fish. That said, there are two species of skunk cleaner (Atlantic and Pacific) and I can't tell you if there are any behavior differences between the two.

Thank you!

I have both. My fire shrimp stays back in his cave and is only out and about when I am feeding. My skunk cleaner shrimp is always out and about. It joins the fish begging for food when I am near the tank. It also takes the opportunity to clean my hand when it’s in the tank. My hand comes out shiny and like new! Fire shrimp is more colorful. Skunk cleaner shrimp is more out and about and sociable.
