Well, there comes a time for every reefer to experience a catastrophic failure of some sort. Tonight was my night...er nightmare.
No. Not the 180 but the frag tank. Bart had it for several years. It was a home made glass tank. Nothing super special.
Went in to turn off the lights that u kicked on to feed (in a 3 day cynao killing blackout) and noticed the light on the frag system still on. Then a funny bubble under the bottom. Then water gushing from the front lip. Holy. #&%$-$:'&-$-%$ run to garage. Get transfer pump and hose and buckets. Call wife in. (She told me last night she was getting tired of the tank not doing good and wouldn't mind if it were gone) she holds the pump in a bucket while I rush to open the window and remove screen. Finally we are pumping all the water out. Get the big female tomato in the sump along with my frag racks full of frags.
Got it all drained. Everything is on the front porch. Used 6 beach towells. At one point water spewed a 6" guyser out the front lip.
Silver lining. We only spilled a few gallons on the floors. Glad it was not carpet. It must have just started when I walked in.
Anyways... ill likely try to rebuild it. Heck I fixed a 225 once but for now.... anyone want a big female tomato? Free pickup tomorrow in Manchester after 12 as we have a swim meet.
