Today I added a Red Head Solon Fairy Wrasse to my tank and it immediately started getting harassed by my Exquisite Wrasse. I figured I’d be ok since the Exquisite is known as one of the most peaceful wrasse. He’s not and bullied the Red Head all day.

Now the lights are out and I’ve located the rock my Exquisite sleeps under.

Anyone have any ideas as to how to capture him while he’s sleeping? I only have a small net. Are there any household items you can recommend I try to use? I’ve got an empty nano he’ll being going in on time out.

Just set a trap for tomorrow when it’s time to feed. He will likely go right in. I have a trap I made from a 2L soda bottle. Clear bottle. Cut the top off the bottle just so it fits in the main section so you can invert it and super glue it. Cut a hole the size you like from the very top of the 2L bottle. Glue to a magnet or use a suction cup to attach it to the glass. Tie off some fishing line. Bait it and wait for the wrasse. When he’s in the bottle pull the line so that it disconnects from the suction cup or glass. Pull that sucker out of the bottle and into acclimation box or whatever

I have multiple fish of all sizes. I’d prefer to catch him while he’s sleeping so he doesn’t wake up and start attacking the Red Head right away. If I can’t come up with anything tonight I’ll have to try the 2 liter route.

I’d give it another day and see if it calms down. You are unlikely to catch it with a net even while sleeping. They wake up quick and dart away. I’ve tried a few times in the past. A lot of wrasses and tangs harass newcomers but calm down after a day or 2
