Hey All, i wondered why my maxima clams were closed most of the time recently. This coincided with the introduction of a cleaner wrasse. I soon realised the cleaner was nipping quite aggresively at the mantles of both clams. I am definitely keen to catch the little raider and put him in quarantine but its impossible with a net. I have tried a home made trap made out of a drink bottle with bait inside....no luck.
I am looking for advice please as my clams will surely succumb to this little monster. I also have the same issue with a coris wrasse that flips all acans and small corals looking for small creatures underneath.
Any suggestions on a good trap or method would be greatly appreciated. I had a bad feeling about the cleaner and should have followed my gut.

Small plastic tank with mesh top placed in DT with clams inside, thanks Acer. Stoked, they will be happy until I catch the little ratbag cleaner. Thanks everyone for your advice, really appreciate it, I will persist with bottle fish catcher

Maybe use a larger box type trap and use a store bought clam or oyster for bait. Of course cover Your live clam 1st. You do have Oysters in Australia don't You ? ;)
