I've just finished setting up my new 4ft tank and I had originally left a space in the aquascape to move the whole rock scape from my 2 year old 2ft cube. BUT after watching BRStv's latest series I have changed my mind about doing that. If im right in understanding the series, even though my rock has no algae or pests visible, the balance of the newer tank wouldn't be able to cope with the amount of photosynthetic pests I'd introduce.

So I'm wondering if anyone has any tips to catch as many pods, worms and brittle starfish as I can out of the current tank before I completely nuke the rock ready for re-use?

P.S. I dont know if im allowed to link to the BRS series but i'd highly recommend it! Those guys do some amazing investigations!

Thanks!

If you have a sand bed. Just grab the top half inch of sand bed from old tank and put it on top of sand in new aquarium. Job done.

All the deeper sand must be rinsed thoroughly before transfer.
