Anyone have any cats willing to take a sip water from your reef tank? I have, not sure what to think about it.

what ,,,,, :-o) . No clue, sorry have nothing to offer. But its intriguing to know ,

I can’t see this being good for the cat. I’m sure you leave a bowl of water out for it! Mine likes to leave it’s bowl and drink out the toilet [emoji23]... I just think cats are beyond stupid

cats seem to like drinking from what they should not. Often it is water with a flow like sinks and toilets. I assume its because these are often more safe water sources naturally. Fish tanks tend to tantalize do to their flow...In my opinion/Solution... they'll find out whats good for them, and not, eventually. If not, calm assertive spray bottling?

My cat waits till I get out the shower then licks the shower floor. Something about them liking the salts from our skin...but the salinity is nothing compared to tank water...ew

Cats evolved in low water environments. Their kidneys are so adept to this that they can hydrate from salt water.
This same process is one of the reasons cat pee smells so strong. They are able to flush more of the unusable elements to use more of the source.

There's likely something missing in his diet; mg, ca, etc. Many people, myself included will give our pets filtered water. Our water here is very hard here so the tap water may cause stones and such so it's not good. But the water you give your pets should still have the basic required minerals, not pure water devoid of all. Just hypothesizing.

My cat has a thing for my sons Beta water. Of course he enjoys a shot of toilet water after lunch so whatever floats his boat. He always has a full water bowl and I think he does it to spite me.

I doubt that a cat would drink enough saltwater to hurt itself, but on the other hand it can potentially be fatal. Salt is a natural emetic but if it is retained (by a cat or a person) it can cause the sodium levels to go up too high which is difficult to reverse. 2 tablespoons of salt can be fatal for a small child.
