Alright, current situation:

- 35 days into a fallow period on my new DT
-DT has had around a dozen various hermits, 4 turbos (Large), a cleaner shrimp and a coral banded shrimp, a porcelain crab, I also know I have a infant sea slug roaming, along with multiple bristle stars.
- No CUC quarantined yet (2 weeks into the cycle on my new QT tank)

The hair algae is getting out of control in the tank. Battling it every day.

I am nervous wreck cuz I don't wanna rush a Sea Hare in without QT'ing it first... along with any other inverts... (I would have to reset the fallow timer if I did, which is not an option)

Do I have another option that's proven without removing it all by scrubbing etc... I know once the roots are down and establish I'm pretty much screwed. But I have heard of peroxide dosing?

I plan to get some CUC QT'ing asap, but that's another 76 days before I can put them in the DT and I'm afraid it will over-run the tank in the meantime...

Suggestions?

Any corals in the DT?

No, Its brand new, just set it up and cycling it now. PVC and some fake plants. No sand. No rock.

If you don't have to worry about starving corals, you could attempt to Carbon dose (and/or use GFO) and drive your nutrients so low it will starve the algae. Every time I've tried that my corals have lost tissue, but you don't have to worry about that. That said, manual removal works pretty good.

You are cycling without Rock? Do you have your lights running?

dang, I read "DT" and thought "QT"

Yes, I have 49 mixed reef corals in my DT that is running fallow.... sorry

@Humblefish can you weigh in on a sea hair for qt

Encystment is probably unlikely, but there is always the chance a free swimmer could be inadvertently attached. So, 16 days worth of isolation in a fishless frag tank would be optional, or at the very least a good rinsing with DT water before placing in your tank.

Great thanks!
