Caught this guy tonight!

Don't know how I got him but he poked his head out on a piece of rock that I could grab. Threw it in a freshwater dip and now he's out. I'm like what the heck, it's Punisher the crab or the death's head moth from silence of the lambs! Anyway, he's out. My guess is a type of gorilla crab?

Cool looking! I've always been under the impression that hairy crabs are bad crabs. Not sure if that still holds water.

It's a black mithrax. Not evil, but not reef safe unless you keep it happy. Makes an awesome sump pet, very very good at cleaning up random junk.

I took no chances, already have an emerald mithrax, so this guy is gone

Yeah, perhaps a safe bet. I'm a big fan of them, they have a good personality, but better suited for sump life.

Nope, all mithrax crabs can be hairy. Including emerald crabs.
