Recently I have begun to gain interest in marine macro algae. I am considering starting a system dedicated to these macroalgae. my first option was some type of Caulerpa, unfortunately, it is illegal to it in the state of California are their any good alternatives to it? I am looking for something that's grass-like and will grow densely.

Awww man sorry to hear that.... you might want to look at some of the sea grasses?
I have been thinking about turtle grass but don't you need a special substrate for seagrass ?
