This was interesting yesterday I came home from work and found my caulerpa 'forest' white and bleached with just a few green leaves. I was sitting with my son pondering the situation and he mentioned that during the day the tank seemed cloudy. Oddly it was crystal clear when I arrived home. Did some google research and found some opinions regarding the subject and potential toxicity issues. Corals seem normal today luckily. All parameters were normal except calcium is higher than it should be (500ish) dKh is 12, pH 8

Any input is welcome. I pulled the clump out of the tank and will not keep caulerpa anymore due to the risk.

Watch your nutrients; when algaes go sexual like this they release whatever they "bound up" in the past, therefore you may see a considerable spike in nitrate/phosphate.

It has been 8 days since the removal of the Caulerpa. I've tested the water and phosphate and nitrate have been zero. No adverse effects from this luckily!

Consider yourself very lucky! When these alages go sexual, they can really wreak havoc on a system!

Was this Caulerpa (i believe its sertulariodes) in your Display tank? I am just always interested if it is light cycle or another factor that made it go sexual.
