Would there be any reason why. The fist size amount i have is growing but it's kept within an egg crate box in my DT.

Caulerpa is a relatively slow grower when it comes to algaes, it could very well be that the input of po4 far outweighs the output. This can be fine tuned via correct spectrum and duration of photo period but bottom line is it isn't the most efficient algae.

I use caulerpa but I mine is mixed with loads of Chaeto, never did it on purpose but it just appeared in there so must have been already in there when I bought the Chaeto.
Try mixing it in with some Chaeto, you will definitely get better results.
I am presuming you don't have a sump as that is the best place to have it.

No i don't have a sump. I thought about adding some cheato but wasn't sure if it was a good idea to mix with caulerpa

It works a treat, and like I said you will see better results. Although for any algae to work you need good light, which in a DT isn't the best thing to do.
Maybe look at an external algae reactor or HOB refugium

I had a mix of macro in a reactor at one time then one day it melted into nothing and made a complete disaster of my tank.

I think leaving it in my tank where it gets better flow and the lighting from my radion, which I can adjust for a better spectrum for it, it seems it does better.

Probably just don't have enough growing yet for the amount of nutrients in my tank so I'll think let it grow out more.
