Looking for some tips or reassurance that it will still be fine. I have a new CBB as of Monday night so it's been three whole days not including the first night and last night and I don't really see this guy eating. Picking at rocks and such but doesn't go after anything I have offered and seems more afraid of the food magically appearing from either a pipette or I just pour in a little in case the pipette was the issue. Still nothing.

So I have tried frozen mysis, LRS reef frenzy, and live black worms so far and no response. I didn't medicate the tank until last night where I just put prazipro in just in case there were flukes maybe causing an issue. He would jerk his head a little and then swim fast from time to time which led me to believe there was a chance for flukes. That was just last night so I might be starting the clock fresh again? Also prazi can be an appetite suppressant but I thought it was worth the risk.

This morning I pulled some cheato out of the display tank and put it in there with him because I know it's full of nice bugs and whatever else is crawling on that, this way he can possibly hunt down as he sees fit.

Just some reassurance or some tips would be great. I'm not freaking out, he is still swimming around pecking at rocks and such but not swimming erratically.

This is why these fish are known to be so hard to keep they don't eat he may never eat and will waste away and die just what these fish do

I realize that is one thing that could happen, but also doing my best to give it a shot is what my personal responsibility is in this scenario. So asking all of these people with decades of experience is probably the right thing to do. Maybe they will have something to say that will actually be helpful based on real world experience.

I don't keep them. They are known to do this. My only peice of advice is do tones of research and ask people who have successfully done it. One thing I know is that they die from constipation alot. So when you get him eating, mix alot of fiber with the food.

Good tip! I did a lot of research ahead of time hence the black worms for live food, etc. Just trying to do my best with this one. I think I have all the boxes checked but maybe I missed something.

Thank you Dave!
how do you get ur fish btw do you pick up or order online if you pickup you could ask the LFS to feed them see what 1 eats if the worst case scenario happens with this 1 if you did want to try again

I got it local but I didn't get a chance to see it eat. The did say they were feeding frozen mysis and I picked up the same brand they were using but he hasn't eaten for me. I should have had them show me, I've always trusted this store but that's a mistake on me this time. Not next time.

He does seem to be circling and looking at the chaeto I put in there this morning so hopefully he starts digging in a little. Of course feeding bugs off of chaeto will only last so long so he will need to conform at some point.

This is a rather lenghty read

Took mine 8 days before he ate, another user 7 days.

Live rock with infestation of feather worms will keep them going.

You may get lucky and find a food she/he likes, they are challenging to get to accept prepared meals.
They're worth the effort.

Did you start yours in the display tank or in QT?

Let him get comfortable eating from rocks, then try to get him on food you give
I have considered this but worry about the stress of the other fish and him not eating due to that but also the wife and I have wondered if it's just better to go for it to start with and get out of QT.

Dumped him right in to the display and was willing to accept whatever consequences that would take place.

He was under 2" and an online order. September, he will be with me for 2 years.

What other fish do you have?
