center brace on 150 glass tank

Currently have a 150 glass reef tank in the wall. A little over a year in, the center brace snapped. Got a replacement tank and less than a year later the same thing happened to the new one. Seems ridiculous and beyond frustrating. Why would this happen twice? The tank stand is level. Manufacturing defect/design flaw?

Are your light pretty close to the brace?

The tank is Marineland and there are T5 lights suspended above the tank. (About 6-8 inches above ) Also have a Kessil on either side.

You need to put some sort of uv protectant on the center brace. Aluminum foil is probably the easiest and cheapest.

Just chuck the center brace and throw in a glass brace, it will last and not just snap.

Look up Euro Bracing. Samething.
Acrylic won't bond to glass. If its a glass tank, you need to use glass to brace it, or go back to the original trim.

A few years ago, a reefer in our local club had a welding shop make an aluminum brace and then cut out a large glass center brace on his 185. I would think this would work in your instance also, if you don't want to replace the tank. I am linking to his pictures. These are not mine.
