Hey guys i just bought a new kessil a150 hooked it up to my tank and just figured out that the center-brace blocks the light to were there is a dark stripe down the middle of my tank it is a 29g bow-front. I wiggled the brace does not seem like it really holds anything im seriously considering cutting it out anyone ever done this? I don't want to have to buy another 200 dollar light and I really don't want to go back to T5's either. Tried running 2 t5's with kessil still looks crummy. What do you guys think

Center braces are there to keep the tank together, I'd not remove it, especially in a bow front tank.

well im guessing that i will have to buy another a150 to go on the other side. There is a video from kessil showing using two diffrent colors one on each side and they blend togeather pretty nice i have a sky blue thought about using a ocean blue on the other side. It might not look too bad if i use antic blue bulbs in my 2 bulb t5 fixture and just leave the kessil on one side. Idk im just so disappointing that it didn't work the way i wanted been waiting along time for a led light fixture so i could get some more corals tired of messing with equipment

Yeah center braces suck
Is there a way you can take out the middle one and make two smaller ones for 1/3 of the way on the tank. I'm sure there's a way...

If it's not too much of a pain, you could empty the tank enough that there isn't alot of water causing pressure. Remove the center brace and replace with an acrylic one. There's a few DIY on how to do this and it's extremely simple.
At best it saves you a couple of hundred.

I have been experimenting with placement of it and i think i would be happy with it on one side if i run my two t5's with it. I guess i will get some antic blue bulbs for my t5's the sky blue is not blue enough to suit me should have listen to my wife she wanted the ocean blue one lol. what do you guys think? Im looking at the whole acrylic center brace replacement and when i can get to lowes and get material i am seriously considering the acrylic replacement for the brace seems easy enough.

Yeah replace the brace with acrylic and take a hole saw bit and make one big enough for the main beam of light to go through

I thin that I might have changed my mind on the whole kessil lights. I can buy a reefbreeders type light I seen some eBay today have something like 48 3w leds for 150 bucks I think that the wider fixture will do away with my centerbrace shadowing problem anyone have experience with these type leds are they more of a flood type than a spotlight like the kessil?
